Fishing in Perchzilla

Fishing in Perchzilla is renowned for its high average weights and the unique opportunity to catch perch weighing over three kilograms. The lake's nutrient-rich environment, abundance of baitfish, and crayfish allow the perch to grow large and muscular. The primary fishing methods here are jig fishing, shads, crayfish imitations, and various rigs such as Texas, Ned, and free-rigs, but hard baits like jerkbaits and crankbaits also work very well during the right periods.

The fishing changes significantly throughout the season. During the autumn, perch are active, often hunting high in the water, and respond well to shads, hard baits, and chatterbaits. This is a period with many bites and a chance for fish around 2–2.5 kilograms. As the water gets colder, perch go deeper, and fishing becomes more technical, where slower presentations and more precise rigs often yield the best results.

During winter and early spring, the truly large fish begin to show themselves. Bites may be fewer, but jig fishing near the bottom with larger shads and crayfish imitations is often key. This is when fish exceeding three kilograms are caught, and every bite is a chance for a dream perch. This is also a period where advanced techniques from Japan can make a big difference to your fishing.

Perchzilla offers a perfect combination of variety, challenge, and a chance for trophy fish, whether you prefer classic Scandinavian jig fishing or more technical presentations.

Host - Borrebutiken

Borrebutiken is run by true perch nerds with a full focus on modern perch fishing. They have spent many hours on the water, both in Sweden and around Europe, to understand how to catch big perch.

It's about the right baits, the right technique, and understanding the details that make a difference. Whether it's rigging, equipment, or tactics, they know what works.

During the fishing trip, they share their knowledge directly on the water. This means you not only fish, you also develop and gain new insights for your own perch fishing.

Preparation Day in Sweden

Before the trip, we meet at the Borrebutiken store in Trollhättan for a preparation day. Here we go through equipment, lure selection, and how to approach fishing in Perchzilla.

This is an important part of the trip. Small details can make a big difference once you are on the water, and proper preparation significantly increases your chances.

You will also have the opportunity to ask questions, get tips, and learn from experiences from previous trips. For those who cannot attend in person, it is possible to receive information and advice digitally.

fish species and bait choice

Perchzilla is best known for its large perch, but it also offers pike and zander for those who want to diversify their fishing. The perch thrives in the lake's nutrient-rich environment and preys on both crayfish and small fish, making jigs, shads, and crayfish imitations very effective. During active periods, hard baits such as jerkbaits and crankbaits also deliver, and various rigs like Texas, Ned, and free rigs can be crucial when the fish are more cautious. Those who adapt their bait choice to depth, season, and activity often get the best results – and the chance of catching truly large fish.
